Position Summary

Barwon Orange Door - Safety and Support Hub Practitioner
Part Time – 72 Hours per fortnight

 

Colac Area Health is a values based organisation providing a unique integrated health service comprising of over 500 employees, providing Acute Care, Aged Care, Community and Allied Health Services.

 

The role will be based at the Colac Access Point for the Barwon Orange Door providing screening, intake, assessment and response work. The practitioner will need to provide their expertise to both Child and Family and Family violence referrals received by the BOD and apply a trauma-informed approach that promotes client’s choice and empowerment

 

What’s required? 

  • A degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related tertiary qualification relevant to child and family welfare.
  • Current Drivers Licence and Working with Children Check.
  • Experience in the assessment of families with complex needs.
  • Experience in the assessment of family violence.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Children Youth and Families Act 2005 and the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005.
  • Knowledge of the Family Violence Act 2008.
  • Knowledge of the Family Violence Protection (information Sharing and Risk Management) Regulations 2018 (Vic).
  • Knowledge of the Child Wellbeing and Safety (Information Sharing) Regulations 2018 (Vic).
  • Ability to provide child focussed confidential, flexible and responsive support in a variety of settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly in the context of variable daily workload demands.
  • Experience in crisis management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with people from varying socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of the Child Protection system.
  • Willingness to participate in further training and professional development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and computer literacy skills.
