DIRECTOR OF NURSING & CLINICAL CARE

Colac Area Health (CAH) is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Director of Nursing & Clinical Care to provide high level clinical leadership and service development. CAH is located in the Colac Otway Shire which is one of the most picturesque Victorian municipalities, featuring lush farming plains, rugged coastline (including 90 kilometres of Great Ocean Road) and the majestic Otway Ranges.
CAH is a unique integrated health service providing an extensive range of services to a catchment population of (approximately) 30 000. The diversity of services include Urgent Care, Acute, Midwifery, Haemodialysis, Chemotherapy, Perioperative including 2 theatres and day surgery and Palliative Care. In addition the Health Services operates a 75 bed Aged Care Facility with ability to provide Dementia and Restorative specific care. On site access to Allied Health, Primary Care and Community based programs support the organisations holistic approach to care. 2018 will see the introduction of 24 hour on site Hospital Medical Officers further strengthening in house service provision for the community.
One of Colac Area Health Strategic Drivers is to grow from a Rural to a Regional Health Service and this role will be instrumental in this initiative.
The successful applicant will ensure:
- Clinical nursing operations are at contemporary professional level
- Nursing clinical services are provided safely and through contemporary care practices
- All required accreditation and other required standards are met
- There is a strategic focus for the Directorate that supports, promotes and achieves the Board’s strategic directions
- Strategies and processes that build future capability of the organisation’s evolution to a regional health service are undertaken

Selection Criteria |
Essential: Post graduate qualifications in nursing, health administration,
business or quality management, or substantial and current
experience at an Executive level of 10 years or more. Essential: Demonstrated capacity to work with stakeholders including the
Board, government, staff and the community to ensure the
continued delivery of safe and high quality services. Essential: A systems thinker who embraces and drives change, with an ability to:
(a). demonstrate capability or experience at Executive level in designing, developing and implementing new models of service.
(b). prove capability or competency in executive operational planning and management. Essential: Demonstrate personal attributes of:
(a). superior leadership skills, including evidence of leading and motivating staff to deliver the most safe and stringent
levels of clinical care.
(b). being an effective communicator at all levels of engagement required as a Director. Essential: A commitment to continuing education and professional development. Essential: Proven Proficiency at:
(a). leading and promoting continuous service quality improvement activities.
(b). using information technology at an executive level in service design, planning and project management levels. Essential: Ability to meet the requirements of a Key Personnel Check for the purposes of the Aged Care Act (1997) |
